WISE Occupational Rehabilitation Services

There are many risks and dangers in everyday life. Work is one of the largest risk factors, due to the nature of some roles and the proportion of time spent at work. Across Australia there are 256,000 injuries per year, some are minor and some are complex and debilitating.

WISE Employment’s Occupational Rehabilitation services are offered under Comcare in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania and are available to employers and employees who are covered by the Comcare Insurance scheme. Comcare is the workers’ compensation scheme that covers Commonwealth agencies and authorities, ACT government and self-insured Corporations and accounts for approximately 9000 workplace injuries/claims per year

WISE’s Occupational Rehabilitation Services will provide the following;

Early Intervention
Ensuring that an injured worker returns to work as soon as possible – this process includes assessments and plans for alternative duties
Occupational Rehabilitation Assessment
and Return to Work Plans

This is an assessment of the injured employee’s current medical status and employment status to determine the specific occupational rehabilitation needs of the injured employee’s recovery and return to work.
Job Analysis or Workplace Assessment
This is an assessment of the injured employee’s workplace and involves a task analysis of their pre-injury role, as well as other roles within the organisation. Recommendations will then be provided as to the modification of other roles that might suit the injured employee.
Psychological Services
A psychological injury can result in an employee feeling stressed and/or depressed. These cases are complex and require specialised services from a psychologist. The services provided would be case management, mediation between parties and developing and communicating with the employer to instigate a Return to Work.
Occupational Rehabilitation Counseling
Counseling service throughout the course of occupational rehabilitation, with a focus on the totality of their needs.
Vocational Medico-Legal Assessment Reports
People who have been injured in a transport accident (TAC) or in the workplace (VWA, Comcare) have the ability to sue their employer through the insurance company for compensation for loss of function and earning potential. As part of this process, the legal representation for the injured employee would organise a Vocational Medico-Legal assessment and report. Medico-Legal Reports deliver a professional assessment of an injured persons work capacity and earning potential based on their pre-injury situation, nature of their injury and post injury employment prospects.
