Northern Indigenous Employment (NIE) Business Recognition Ceremony
The Northern Indigenous Employment (NIE) Business Recognition Ceremony will be held on Friday 28 October from 2-4pm. WISE is a proud partner and co-host of the event.
The event is an initiative of the NIE working group and is a celebration of Indigenous employment in Melbourne’s northern region - home to the second highest Aboriginal population in Victoria.
As an official partner of the NIE working group since 2008, WISE Employment is proud to be a key coordinator of the Business Recognition Ceremony and would like to encourage as many businesses as possible to take part in this year’s event.
Indigenous musicians Makita McNally and Laurence Austin will entertain guests on arrival and the Ngurrungaeta Male & Fathers Group will provide an Indigenous inspired afternoon tea.
“It’s a great opportunity to acknowledge businesses in the North who recruit and train Indigenous employees and implement Indigenous workplace protocols, policies and strategies,” said Tanya Douglas, NIE group member and Kangan Indigenous Education Centre Employment Coordinator.
“It also helps to create awareness and provide links for other local businesses that would like to employ Indigenous people but may not know how to go about it.”
Ian Hamm, Executive Director, Aboriginal Affairs Victoria will open proceedings where six northern region businesses will be recognised for improving employment outcomes for Aboriginal people.
The event will be held at the Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows.
If you would like to attend the event, please RSVP directly to Tanya Douglas by Friday 14 October, T: 9279 2256 E: tdouglas@kangan.edu.au
