WISE move for the Koorie Night Market
Following the success of the Koorie Night Market Pilot Project in March this year, WISE Employment and Darebin City Council are pooling resources to make the markets a regular feature on our community calendar.
Darebin City Council will appoint a full-time coordinator who will see a series of markets happen in the next twelve months and an organisation called Koorie Night Market Inc will be established to ensure local Indigenous people play a role in developing the markets as a dynamic and viable community event.
Koorie Night Market Inc, the local Indigenous community, WISE, Darebin City Council and other partner organisations will seek further support to ensure the markets are sustainable in the long-term. The ultimate objective is the complete handover of the project to Koorie Night Market Inc.
