Inside Job Seeking the WISE way…a guide to finding and keeping a job you will find practical and professional hints to help you start planning and achieving your employment goals.
Here’s some ideas on how you might get started in your job search…
Step 1 - finding the job that is right for you
Whether it is your first job or you are returning to the workforce, you need to consider what you want from your job.
You also need to look at what you have to offer an employer – your skills, abilities, experience and qualifications.
| Possible career opportunities to consider: |
| • |
Clerical and administrative – you may be interested in writing reports and letters organising, recording and checking information. |
| • |
Outdoor work – you may wish to work as a gardener, labourer or construction worker |
| • |
Cleaner – clean jobs can be found in a range of areas including workplaces and residential homes and can be quite flexible. |
| • |
Traineeships and Apprenticeships – these are found in many industries and remember they are open to all age groups |
| • |
Community Services – this could include child care workers and personal attendants |
| • |
Service Industry – positions in retail and hospitality usually suit people that like working as part of a team. |
And remember, this will most likely not be your only job, but it’s much easier to get the job if you have a job.
