WISE Employment
sponsors St Albans Full Moon Festival

More than 400 children in traditional Vietnamese costume filled the Brimbank College gymnasium in St Albans 1 October to celebrate the Full Moon festival as part of the lunar calendar. WISE Employment was a proud sponsor of the event.

Family and friends joined the children as they listened to folk stories, were soothed to the sound of a violin and were mesmerised by the Vovinam martial arts exhibitions. Colourful dragons dancing to the beat of rhythmic drums captivated the children as they weaved their way through the crowds under the guidance of the ‘dragon tamer’.

The festival celebrating the ancient traditions of Vietnamese culture has been running in Melbourne’s western suburbs for 12 years. Such is its success that it has outgrown the previous location.

WISE Employment consultant, Thanh Le, spoke of the importance of children in society and encouraged multiculturalism at the event, highlighting plans to make the festival for all children in the western suburbs.

Brimbank Mayor, Natalie Suleyman pledged the council’s support in reaching the festival’s objectives. Cr Suleyman spoke of the council’s desire to see the event grow into a Western Regional Festival.

Judging by the representation of local councillors, MPs, government officials and prominent community figures the event looks set to continue on its principle of a celebration for the children.
