WISE launches Devonport office

Devonport job seekers with a disability will now have access to greater resources to help them find employment as WISE Employment launched a new office at 38-40 Formby Road on Wednesday, 30 August.

Manager, Peter Chettle, believes his team will provide local job seekers with more resources and opportunities to aid them in their job search.

"We aim to provide an unparalleled service to strengthen and grow the North West Coast business community focussing on both job seekers and employers," he said.

One of the team's recent success stories has been helping job seeker Wayne Neilson back into employment. Wayne has suffered from lower back pain for the last seven years.

Not only has it affected Wayne's health; it has made it difficult for him to find employment.

"It's been really hard," he said. "Most employers wouldn't look at me because of my back problem."

Wayne was at one time unemployed for seven months. The Devonport team helped Wayne to put together his resume and to prepare for interviews.

"They gave me my own marketer, Dale Perry, who said he'd get me a job...and he did," he said.

Wayne has just started working at Moto Kawasaki in Devonport as a gardener come handyman.

"It's really good...I have my own responsibilities and they seem really happy with me," he said. "I'm managing my back through hydrotherapy, and my employer lets me do different jobs during the day so as not to place too much strain on it."

"This job is great and I'm really happy with what I'm doing."
