On Tuesday 21 July, Clean Force welcomed The Hon Bill Shorten MP to speak at the event ‘1million milestone … the journey so far’.

As a contract cleaning business, Clean Force operates as a not for profit on a social enterprise model, reinvesting surplus revenue back into the community.

Since it began operation in 2001, Clean Force has provided more than 100 job seekers with a mental illness and other disabilities with employment and now cleans over 38 sites across Metropolitan Melbourne.

Clean Force employees were recognised for their commitment to the cleaning business on the day – some receiving Certificates III in Asset Maintenance.

This year also sees Clean Force reach an annual revenue of $1million, with a variety of community representatives from government, local business and disability and employment service sectors offering their congratulations.

Clean Force Manager Jim Dinuccio said, “This event was not only to celebrate the business success of Clean Force, but a chance to congratulate our employees who have overcome barriers to employment to find meaningful work.”

Mr Dinuccio says employees are given the opportunity to engage in meaningful work while gaining valuable workplace skills.

“Over 30 employees with a mental illness and other disabilities have completed vocational traineeships (Certificate II and III).”

“Eleven Clean Force employees have entered the competitive labour market - four of which progressed to complete their university studies,” he said.

Highlights on the day included a Welcome to Country and also a key celebratory speech delivered by Mr Shorten, Parliamentary Secretary for People with Disabilities and Children’s Services.
