people WISE support WISE growth WISE

As WISE has grown, we've looked for enterprises that share our values to invest in and support. We have sought out those rare organisations that successfully combine "social enterprise" with the running of a productive commercial business.

Two such enterprises are Clean Force Property Services in Victoria and Equity Labour Services (ELS) in Tasmania. Clean Force is a contract cleaning business that provides its clients with a first rate result, while providing all important work for people with a psychiatric disability. ELS is a vegetation management, litter collection and cleaning business that provides meaningful work for people who, due to a range of disabilities, face major barriers to gaining employment.

In July 2010, we launched a new social enterprise, Incito Maintenance, based in Victoria. Incito is a property maintenance service, offering general carpentry, ‘handyperson’, cleaning, gardening, grounds maintenance and labour hire. It embraces a dual role – delivering high quality property maintenance services, as well as providing meaningful work for people experiencing barriers to employment.

In September 2010, WISE acquired GBE Electrical Company as its fourth Social Enterprise. Established as a private company in 2003, GBE Electrical Company is Victoria’s first not-for-profit electrical contractor.

In October 2011 WISE launched a second Incito Maintenance in Darwin. The business will operate from WISE Employment's central Darwin office, providing a variety of maintenance services including general carpentry and handyman work, gardening, cleaning and grounds maintenance, while also providing people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds with skills and jobs in the local construction industry.

By helping disadvantaged people overcome barriers and realise their potential, these not-for-profit business make a real difference in the community
