| ‘New job, new life – a journey of courage and determination’ was an initiative of WISE Employment. In February 2011, we were successful in our funding application to the Northern Territory Government’s Multicultural Affairs and Sponsorship Program (MASP) to produce a short documentary-style film highlighting the challenges refugees face in resettlement and dispel the stereotypes that refugees are all boat people and here for a free ride. The Producer, Danielle Parker said “We wanted to show people that refugees and migrants are just like all other Australians. They have families to support, dreams for their children and themselves and hopes for a future with promise, opportunity and a feeling of safety” The film, featuring participants and employers from the DiversityWISE Program, was shot in various Darwin locations over a six week period and will be launched during Refugee Week 19 – 25 June.
