From the Canvas to the Gallery
In 2009, we funded From the Canvas to the Gallery, a vocationally focused life skills and arts training project, which supported young female Indigenous women, in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Over four days, participants were engaged in training in traditional and contemporary Aboriginal painting, delivered by experienced artists and guest speakers and received arts industry orientation by visiting galleries, cultural centres and art suppliers. They also learnt teamwork and communication skills and explored goal setting through a practical and vocationally focussed environment.
