WISE Research Partnerships
The overall objective of the Community Investment Division is to affect positive change in employment prospects for people who are, or are at risk of becoming, long term unemployed.
The intention is to affect change at several levels including influencing government policy and program development, identifying models of good management and good practice, developing working partnerships between non-government bodies and government, as well as implementing projects that directly benefit individuals and communities.
|
To meet all of these objectives, it was considered essential that the projects be formally evaluated by an external, objective party. To achieve this, WISE entered into a partnership with the research department of Deakin University.
Activities of the Research Team include:
• Evaluation of all community projects funded by WISE
• Establishment and maintenance of a set of Ph.D. studies
• Establishment of a substantial base of external research grants
• Professional training/conferences
• Publication of reports and documents
* Evaluation of best practice for helping the disadvantaged unemployed.
|
Through this research it is hoped that government and the wider labour market support sector will be encouraged to develop more relevant and effective programs for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market.
The first project developed under the Community Investment banner - Make it Work - got underway in May 2002.
